Ferdinand (Perry) Gaines was born to the late Willie and Valtessie Gaines in Oklahoma City.

Perry received his education from Star Spencer High School and graduated in 1973.

Perry was a long-time member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in OKC. He enjoyed helping out those in need.

Perry started his career with Tinker. He then pursued a career in Landscaping. Perry was known for being an expert in yardwork, trimming hedges and planting flowers. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed eating good food, especially the fish that he caught.

He enjoyed playing dominoes and listening to 70’s and 80’s soul music on his old vinyl record player. He also loved spending time with his family and spoiling the grandkids.

Perry met Kim Johnson and had 2 children – Kay Gaines and Peggy Lee. Later he met Lena Williams and they got married. To their union, 4 children were born, Nicole Williams, Ezekiel Williams, Perry Gaines, and Demico Gaines.

Later, Perry met Etta Hutson that he was with for 10 years, and she was with him in his last moments of life.

Perry leaves to cherish his memory, 2 daughters, Nicole Williams and Peggy Lee; 3 sons, Ezekiel Williams, Perry Gaines, and Demico Gaines and his fiancé Etta Hutson; and 7 brothers, Elmo, Don, Douglas, Michael, Lee, Larry, and Jackie Gaines; and his 2 sisters, Brenda (Abakah) and Linda (Williams.) He also leaves 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and also a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Perry will be on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Greater First Deliverance Temple, located at 2101 N. Bryant, in Oklahoma City, OK. Interment to follow at Trice Hill Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK. Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home.
