Carl Lee Hetherington, Jr., 1:00 PM, Monday, July 17, 2017



Carl Lee Hetherington, Jr., of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away July 14, 2017 at his home.  He was born March 20, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Carl grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Southeast High School and graduated 1956. He married his sweetheart, Dolores on July 11, 1957, at Crestline Baptist Church, in Oklahoma City. Carl became the proud father of Carla in 1959 and Bryan in 1962. He coached Little League sports, taught Junior boys in Sunday School, sang in the church choir and was a faithful church member his entire life. Carl was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. He worked in Graphic Art and Sales, retiring in 1999. He loved being PaPa to Grant, Alec, and Brad, and spent many hours making toys, costumes, playing games and making PaPa’s World Famous toast. His hobbies included a passionate love for fishing, singing and playing his guitar, banjo and ukulele. He brought joy to many as he made and gave the gifts of beautiful jewelry he created. One cruise and he was hooked and he quickly became the family’s cruise planner and director. Carl loved to do sudoku puzzles and was a master at them. Most important to him, followed by his family, was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Hetherington, of the home in Moore, OK; daughter, Carla Hetherington, of Moore, OK; son, Bryan Hetherington & wife, Sandy, of Sulphur, OK; 3 grandsons, Grant Hetherington & wife, Mary, of Wellington, KS, Alec Hetherington, of Ponca City, OK, and Bradley Hetherington, of Shawnee, OK; sister, Frieda Jones, of Branson, MO; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda & Larry Dansereau, of Harrah, OK; 2 nephews, Tom Jones, of Branson, MO and Kevin Dansereau & wife, Kelly, of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 nieces, Nikki Meldrom, of Oklahoma City, OK and Kim Dansereau, of Oklahoma City, OK; and cousin, Howard Price, of Oklahoma City, OK. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Lee Hetherington, Sr.; his mother, Flossie Jewell Hetherington; infant brother, C. Russell Hetherington; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial Service for Carl will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, July 17, 2017, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, located at 8601 S. Pennsylvania, in Oklahoma City, OK. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore, OK.
