17-Apr-2017

Mary Jo Hicks, 79, of Oklahoma City, OK died April 11, 2017. Services to be held at Bethesda A/G Church, 3101 SW 89th Street, OKC, Thursday, April 20th at 2:00 PM.  Mary Jo was the daughter of Roy and Ruby Barton of Capital Hill and the wife of Chuck Hicks. Mary Jo passed away suddenly while vacationing in Port Aransas, Texas. Her husband, Chuck, survives Mary Jo. She worked at the FAA for 13 years as a personnel training office secretary, and co-owned C&M distributing with Chuck for 40 years. Upon retirement Chuck and Mary Jo devoted their lives to traveling in their RV and embraced that lifestyle. She was a RV camp hostess in Red River, NM for the past 3 years. Mary Jo was well loved by her many friends and family. She will be missed greatly. The loss is great for us, but we rejoice that today she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

For people who didn’t know Mary Jo, she was the woman always taking pictures followed by 10 seconds of video. She recorded every gathering, every big and small event, a silly gift, a beautiful sunset, etc. These moments were important to her and she wanted a visual reminder of those happy times. Sometimes, they didn’t seem that important to the rest of us, but we were, for the most part, indulgent to smiling and posing for yet, another picture, followed by a few seconds of video, of course. What a gift it was to know you! You took such joy in the everyday moments of life! Thank you for sharing them with us! Barb and Don.

Chuck, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mary Jo was a special Lady, who we always enjoyed being around.
Praying for you to have peace and comfort in the coming days, knowing that this is just our temporary home, and
someday we will all be together in heaven.
