17-Jun-2017

David Ray Allen, 56, of Washington, passed away June 12, 2017. He was born to Elba Derrell and Hellen Josephine (Hoff) Allen November 12, 1960 in Oklahoma City.

David worked for many years as a truck driver. He loved animals and loved taking care of too many cats, dogs and chickens to name. He liked to go fishing whenever he could. David enjoyed country music and his son Bradlie recalls fond memories of riding with David as he drove around in his truck listening to Charlie Daniels songs. David loved going to auctions and had a way of finding thoughtful gifts for those he loved, whether it was classic Star Wars memorabilia or a beautiful, one-of-a-kind desk. His generosity extended beyond his family and friends – he would go out of his way to help anybody do anything. David was a kind, generous soul who was taken away far too soon and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by two sons, Bradlie Allen of Oklahoma City and Craig Allen of Bridge Creek; three granddaughters, Darbie Nunley of Norman, Haylie Allen, of Bridge Creek, and Harlee Allen, of Bridge Creek; great-grandson, Daxton Nunley, of Norman; mother and stepfather, Hellen (Allen) Dodd and Bob Dodd, of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Nancy Ann Routh and husband Chuck, of Oklahoma City and Cynthia Calcote and husband Donnie, of Waxahachie, Texas; step-sister, Carol Jean Dodd Clark; eight nieces and nephews, nephew, Edward Routh, niece, Shelly Steelman, niece, Amy Perth, nephew, Michael LeFeber, nephew, Rusty Routh, niece, Stephanie Wood, nephew, Jonathan LeFeber, niece, Brittany Cooksey; and many great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other loving members of the family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his father, Elba Derrell; and his stepsister, Cheryl Dodd.

Memorial Services for David will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017, in the Triumph Worship Center, 3425 SW 44th in Oklahoma City, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.

I regret I won't be able to be there to celebrate David's life. It's the same day and time of my sons Eagle Scout Court of Honor. David was the kindest, sweetest person, I have very fond memories of him and knew he would never change as he grew into a man. We lost touch for many years but reconnected via facebook a few years ago. I can't express how much he will be missed here on earth but Heaven got a gem in him!

David was my friend my neighbor and one of the all around good guys . He was good to both my daughter Ashley and my son Dusty . David helped anyone . He always had a big smile to great you with . And jokes to tell us all . I can't drive by his house without thinking of how disturbing his life was taken from his family and friends . He will be extremely missed . But never forgotten . We love David Allen - thank you for taking us fishing and boating on the lake . Thank you for making us laugh .
