Ada “Joan” Bryson, of Oklahoma City, passed away March 28, 2017, at the age of 80. She was born December 6, 1936, in Alva, OK. Joan enjoyed working crossword puzzles, sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed watching her soap operas, especially, “Days of Our Lives.” Joan and her husband, Darrel enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, Acapulco, and California.
She was a huge fan of the OKC Thunder and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Joan attended high school in Farry, Oklahoma and Miss Lavon’s Hair School. She was a hairdresser and was the owner and operator of Joan’s Salon. Joan was a quiet, kind and loving person with a gentle heart. She always made sure her family was taken care of and she was a wonderful homemaker. Her first love was being with her husband, Darrel, her family, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Darrel Bryson; 2 daughters, Nicky Steiger and Valerie Langley, both of OKC; 1 sister, Maxine Murrow, of Enid; half-brother, Elvin Bates, of Alva; 4 grandchildren, Natalie Johnson and husband, Robert, Jeff Stiger and wife, Michelle, Alisa Litzenberg and husband, Sean, and Ashley Lopez and husband, Andy; and 7 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Emma and Brantley Johnson, Evie and Grayson Stiger, Bethany Gibson, and Sadie Lopez.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Mayme Finfrock; twin sister, Jean Shatswell; and brother, Theodore Finfrock.
A Memorial Service for Joan will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 1, 2017, in the chapel of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, OK.
Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home.
